He's really not an opponent well suited to John, even with prep, as his magic is tech (most of the time) so doesn't really obey any of the rules John exploits.
In a comic with a story Constantine would be able to talk to him and get him to say his name backwards etc, but in an actual fight like this there's basically nothing he can do.
