Do you think these same people would be calling for a revolution if Hilary lost the popular vote, but won the election via the electoral college? Genuinely curious on your take on that.
If Hillary won the electoral college but lost popular vote I'd still be a bit miffed at our state of affairs because that's not supposed to happen. And if Trump won the popular vote his victory would definitely be more legitimate.

I didn't mean you specifically. I'm just saying after this election we have seen a lot of people speak out against the EC. I voted for Trump and I also don't like the EC. But I just can't help but think some of these people would be praising the EC if it kept Trump out of the White House.

Not at all. The electoral college is the only thing that keeps the rural Midwest relevant. Without electoral college the democrats would win with California every cycle. Clinton winning with EC but losing popular vote somehow is extremely unlikely

So you think people in general would be just as eager to get rid of it if she had lost the popular vote but won the EC? Interesting. I suppose perhaps they indeed might feel it's worth it to nix it.

I think people would still wanna get rid of it, but they'd be less passionate

You base this on what exactly, I mean do you have any proof that the groups currently seeking to have it changed held the same opinion pre-Hillary losing?

It seems like for the most part the EC has never been a huge issue. Most likely due to the fact that it's rare for someone to win the popular vote, but not the election.

Now of course it has happened to Hilary and we already have senators putting forth bills to get rid of the EC. Though I do support such a bill.

I just asked for proof they were against the EC before Hillary lost, all you'd have to do is post examples of their protests or petitions that happened before this Election. seems like a rather simple thing to prove.

The same thing happened to Al Gore in 2000, he won the popular vote but lost to Bush because of Florida. And I think we're all the worst for it.

I see, you're saying that Dems are only against the EC when it costs their candidates an election.

It's funny because the *honk honk* thing is something silly that I would do. And being silly is not usually your thing.

Dems are against it because the majority is with them. Republicans have maintained power ironically through minority rule. Also lots of cheating with gerrymandering, voter suppression and powerful lobbyists.

I'd like to see proof that the majority of Americans are against the EC, because so far it just appears to be people that are upset that their candidate lost.

No that's not what I said. I was saying the majority of Americans are liberal, which is why the Democratic Party hates the electoral college. You get rid of EC then the democrats carry every election with California, NY and half of Texas.

That is exactly what you said, here I'll re-quote the conversation.

Yes I did say the majority of Americans are with the Democrats. I didn't say a majority of Americans are against the electoral college, most ppl barely know what it is.

Sure you did and the quotes are right there for everyone to see, you're just trying to back-peddle since I asked for evidence and you know that you cannot provide any.

the majority of Americans are against the electoral college

Americans are nearly as open to major electoral reform when it comes to doing away with the Electoral College. Sixty-three percent would abolish this unique, but sometimes controversial, mechanism for electing presidents that was devised by the framers of the Constitution.
