Remember his skills are untested. And Sidious has told him he's not ready for the Jedi yet.

It's a shame the most technically refined warrior in Star Wars is diminished to this BS.

I think he's reffering to technical ability. I.E. your knowledge and skill in fighting irregardless ( damn it ) of force augmentation or other various advantages you may possess.
