Kenobi vs Vader (Legends)

Some things to consider:

The first quote only suggests that Vader couldn't defeat Obi Wan in the few minutes they were fighting, not that he wasn't superior, and frankly we already knew that from the film. The second could mean lots of things depending on the definitions of "preeminent" and "master".

And the various novelisations that described Kenobi's stamina as flagging. Nothing suggests Kenobi could have last indefinitely.
