I say Vision.

If we were the Vision we'd probably be able to win, but the Vision has never been the win by any means type. Etrigan would likely destroy him.

Pretty sure that "spell" was flowery language, in that he redirected to missile's course with his strength/power of flight once he fuzed the innards, but you're other evidence is fairly compelling.
