Well it is confirmed that he can't be truly defeated by Jedi or Sith ways of channeling the Force:
"Arcann and his Knights learned to use the Force in a different way from Jedi and Sith. It's why we couldn't truly defeat them."
- Satele Shan, Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire
Something Valkorion confirms:
"You have mastered the Dark Side, it is not enough."
- Valkorion, Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire
It's also confirmed that he's almost insurmountable in a Force exchange:
Arcann's prodigious skill with the Force and training with both the Knights and Scions of Zakuul gives him a nearly unbeatable defense.
- Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire
Something the Outlander begrudgingly confirms:
"He's overconfident, but almost as invincible as he believes he is."
- The Outlander, Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire
We have no greater evidence of this than when he is holding off the Force Storm of the Spirit of Valkorion for a prolonged amount of time, but is inevitably overwhelmed:
It isn't until the Outlander, who is more powerful than Revan, gains the boon of Valkorion and an enlightened understanding of the Force that Arcann is defeated:
Valkorion has lived for millennia, using his dark mastery of the Force to assume many forms. His latest incarnation is Valkorion, the Immortal Emperor of the Eternal Empire. After ruling for centuries, he was struck down in an act of treachery engineered by his son, Arcann. But the Immortal Emperor could not be vanquished so easily. He evaded death by infiltrating the mind of the Outlander, his most powerful opponent. He now appears to the Outlander as an apparition, offering guidance and harsh lessons while carrying out a master plan that remains shrouded in secrecy.
- Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne
"You were an exemplary pawn, one I forged into a vessel of supreme power-worthy of preserving my spirit."
- Valkorion, Star Wars The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne
So I see no reason why Redeemed Revan defeats Arcann.

Arcann, he's essentially nigh-impossible to defeat conventionally.
