Kaan made all of the trainees at Korriban Sith Lords solely for the purpose of drafting them into the army to fight the Jedi. Trainees who hadn't earned the title of Sith Lord by merit of ability but rather out of necessity. And despite that they were still considered the greatest fighters in the Brotherhood.

The whole era is a low-point for Jedi and Sith, which is the point, and no amount of hyping will ever change that.
