Maui apparently lassoed the sun and pulled it closer to earth so that Humans can have longer days.

maui says he lasso'e the sun. Just like he said he would help moana and then immediately tried to drown her.

His feats are true. They involve other beings like Tafiti.

I remember it being stated he got his tattoos naturally threw his achievements much like at end of the film when all was said and done he had a new tattoo with Moana on it. So I'd think the accomplishments on his skin really did happen.

Well, Maui best feat from the movie is he managed to fight a very powerful lava demon Té Ka. He survived a nuclear like explosion when he and the lava demon hit each other.

By the story dynamics. Maui was not the lead character of the movie, so we don't to see many feats. But at the end of the movie, a tattoo formed on maui to prove his accomplishment with Moana which only verifies his other feats his tattoos show. He defeated various monsters, he ripped Tamamoa leg. Tamamoa actually fears maui. Maui dragged the sun. Pulled out various islands. He is smart and vastly powerful.
