Odin couldn't even lift Mjolnir anymore. That is yet ANOTHER indicator of his diminished prowess.

Skyfathers are, on average, galaxy busters. And the hammer contains a galaxy sized storm that Odin fought over the course of months.

Fighting and containing something like that to be used as a weapon is a feat for Odin.

Yes, The Man Of Steel has already lifted Mjolnir.

Odin's descent isn't a one off, even the The Thor Corps will admit his fall from grace.

Superman was only allowed to lift it because of the circumstances, afterwards he tried and failed to lift Mjolnir.

That was Busiek's take on it. Everyone was retconned as "by need", and not some innate worthiness.

Superman is the only one that's been stated and shown to need the emergency clause, everyone else was just worthy.
