I didn't, that's why I cited some of 616 Surfer's most impressive physical feats. Yes, in Planet Hulk, BOTH were weakened, and Surfer only got knocked out because he refused to fight any longer after the obedience disc was damaged in their fight. He clearly had the upper hand in that fight until then, proving that Surfer is a much more capable melee fighter than we typically give him credit for.

Right but you saying that isn't a valid reason. You were bringing up a completely different surfer to the 616 one. So you can't equate power levels in anyway. And going on how he treated the Maestro this particular Surfer is quite powerful.
If it was 616 Surfer vs Maestro then your point might be more relevant. But you argue that it is somehow easy to think 616 Surfer could do it.
As it's a slugfest which means according to the rules each character has a turn to land a punch I think if Thanos was given the room to hit Maestro he would take him down. Whereas Maestro would have to work harder than Thanos to do the same thing. So I'll go with Thanos here.

He didn't refuse to fight though. Hulk turned the disk off, Surfer got happy and Hulk wailed on him. He started the fight and Hulk ended. Remember, during the beginning of the fight, Hulk was trying to talk to Surfer which ended in him getting pounced on. Also, it's heavily argued that Hulk could've been far weaker than Surfer since he was sporting the disk throughout planet Hulk.
No one is taking Surfer melee skills away since he does have the fts, I just don't think using weakened characters is the approach to take.
