Yes, both victories are circumstantial to an extent but to cheapen the accomplishments of Hero of Tython and Barsen'thor because of that is being disingenuous to them.
Hero of Tython and Barsen'thor succeeded in these encounters because they were up to the task as well. They would have perished otherwise, circumstances or not.
