Rebels Maul is better than he was in SoD and TCW. Kenobi is just that good.

Lucas doesn't take the EU as canon so Disney Canon would be the best spot for it to be involved.

The best spot for it to be involved is in the Lucas canon before Disney took over. More specifically, back in the 80's
