It all started with Star Wars fans in 1977 - it crossed beyond fandom into something close to religion. And fanaticism did take hold so long ago.
The complaints about comic book films and these shared universe series are no different than the complaints decades ago about Star Wars, helping to squeeze out more personal, smaller films for audiences. And just like then I say: you can't complain that Star Wars led to more commercialization, you can only say it did the commercial movie better than anyone else. And that's Marvel Studios & Disney right now.
