Think about it, starving people get a pass because they need food to survive and things like that, if they stole to get that food, morality would absolve them more often than not. I'd say Tony Stark has been consistently douchey for a while now. for the last lil bit his whole schtick is 'im the better man, im the one that can save everyone' which segways to, 'everyone is dumber than me so no one should ever question anything I do because I can fix it'.

Doom, Kang, and namor just really think they are hot sh!t and probably ties Stark IMO because their ends usually justify their means.

Agreed. Arbitrarily passing judgement in general is arbitrary.

But we are not splashing water at random (except in the choice of percentages which I used because it's a pop fact and not because I really think there is a specific problem with an amount of money held by anyone). As I mentioned earlier, money gives you objective reasons for anyone to expect more moral responsability out of you, if anything for the use you give to resources that could be improving lives etc.

It's a pretty shallow moral discussion though, things are acceptable because we accept them, morality is a social construct. I can conceive people brutally murdering every rich people because they can, but I wouldn't necessarily think their morality is better than those who allow themselves to be ruled by such scoundrels.

Bottomline, Batman is a dick because he rather spend years becoming a master ninja instead of using his resources for actual useful stuff.

some good choices. reed was another one i had in mind. tony is the obvious one, but i guess i've always seen him as a bit different. seems to me much of his arrogance is....an act, maybe? the alcoholism was always humanizing to me. knowing that under his bluster he has to deal with that all the time. he's also had his share of catastrophic failures that limit how i see his arrogance too.

reed can be a total douche, no doubt. but he has the family thing keeping him somewhat grounded. namor has ALWAYS been a d!ck, but since that is how he was created, i find it acceptable and i've always liked namor. i def get why bats would rub people wrong. to me, panther is something else entirely though. he was such a cool character at one point but he's more robot nowadays, doing whatever the hell he wants and he's seemingly been given this marvel grace to solve any problem or beat whoever is in front of him. it's rather maddening tbh. ms america is a really cool character, but she is likely the most arrogant female character in marvel imo. now i think of it, i really dislike the ultimates in general... touted as this awesome team, when any competent version of the avengers could easily match them. interesting storylines though. /shrug

batman is afflicted with a psychosis which is why he sometimes gets a pass. I feel like its all Alfred can do is just keep him from going off the deep end as his will is too strong to actually receive help for his mental state.

Further proof that Spider-Man is the best superhero. What mainstream A-lister stays as consistently humble? Even Cap gets on his high horse from time to time.
