Re: Rogue

I don’t care how they do it but I want to see Rogue flying and lifting heavy objects. Like stopping a falling building from squishing a little girl like the cartoon series. And if Gambit is going to be in the picture Iceman will definitely be out of the X-men crew. Hope to see more exciting fights like X2 had, and this time Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, or even the Sentinels will do.
I agree with u in everything 😉

Comics, from when I used to read the comics Rogue was a much better character, on the plus side wolverine is more intense in the movies than in the comics.
Oh yeah the topic, comic book Rouge was way better. She grew up with Mystique and was a bad guy, then had to swallow pride and ask Xavier for help. Caused alot of friction on the team when she joined(especially with Wolverine) and the entire complextion of her character changed when that butcher(Singer) got ahold of her.
I like Comic Rogue and Rogue from Evo the best. Anna is NOT Rogue enough. Rogue is a deep character. The movie just does not portrayed Rogue's touch as a serious enough incident. I mean Pyro shoulda been OUT by her holding on that long. But he just strolls off to the X-Jet? And the Bobby kiss wasn't really a big deal either. Plus her movie attitude is all wrong. When the museum boy is checking her out, she woulda said something smartass to put him in his place, but she just sits there. I guess she does roll her eyes, but she would do more than that. She woulda been more threatening. Then Iceman woulda had to calm down Pyro AND Rogue.
I think for X3 this should happen: Bobby will dump Rogue for being untouchable and she will feel guilty about crashing the X-Jet and putting Jean in the sacrificial position. She will turn harder and more Roguish and her powers will become more intense- more effective but more of a curse.
If I could recast Rogue, I'd try that chick from Bring it On. Not the Blond chick, but her friend, the smartass. She would be a great Rogue. The chick I'm talking about is the Lead girl from Wrong Turn also. She seems athletic, dark, a smartass etc. OK got her name: Eliza Dushku. What do you guys think? BTW, I DO like Anna Paquin, just like to see some improvement in the future. I know she's gotta do what she's told to do.
Been looking over this site for a couple of weeks and finally decided to make a statement. First of all, I am an avid X-Men fan and collect the four main X-books (New, Uncanny, X-Treme, and Ultimate) so I know a little about the source material.
I think there are more than a few problems with Rogue in the movie and Paquin is the least of those. Every once and a while someone will get the power to change something that is better left as is which is exactly what Singer did with some aspects of the X-Men movies. He obviously never had a full grasp of what Rogue was to even attempt to deal with her in the first place. Rogue is the definition of an outsider who puts all their effort into being accepted; even amongst the X-Men she will always feel lonely because of the lack of physical contact. This is shown with such character traits as impetuousness, impatience, and an overabundance of misdirected anger. In the movie she remains a happy-go-lucky southern belle.
In the comics, by the time she comes into contact with the X-Men she is one of the most powerful mutants alive due to the additional powers she had absorbed (flight, invulnerability from Carol Danvers). Why was it not important to make her a powerhouse in the movie... it's who she is. Also due to the fact that she had absorbed so many attributes and memories, she should be a little crazed from not knowing what memories are hers, conflicting absorbed personalities, etc.
After seeing the first film, it was my belief that Singer was going to give her facsimiles of these powers due to her prolonged exposure to Magneto. Controlling the magnetic fields you could simulate tactile strength and defy gravity (hopefully in X3 he will). Even in her young days, Rogue had been around the block and had seen some things; she should not be so naive. For the way Singer directed it, Paquin played it perfectly...but that's not Rogue.
Excuse me for being so verbose, but in simplifying his movies (mainly the 1st) and turning them into the Wolverine show, he neglected a lot important character traits for all characters.
