Le Diable Blanc
Now, I don't know about anybody else, but to me Bobby Drake has more than a hint of sidekick about him. I know he is one of the original 5 X-men, but he just doesn't seem like a fully-fledged superhero. Whereas Gambit and Wolverine and Rogue and Nightcrawler have got the panache to go it alone, even have their own comics, I really can't see Iceman having the balls to pull it off, without the others he kinda fades to the background.
This is the main basis of me not clicking with the whole Rogue/Iceman thing. No matter what happens i'm always going to fall into the Gambit/Rogue camp, because they compliment each other. They've both got personality, they're both flirtatious with people and danger, and she needs someone to keep her on her toes and he needs a strong woman to keep him on the straight and narrow.
Plus, c'mon, imagine the scene, a building is falling down, gonna crush some people. Rogue can catch it with her super strength or swoop in and fly the people outta the way. Gambit can use his power to blow it into thousands of tiny smithereens that scatter harmlessly to the ground. Iceman however, what does he do, make it a bit chilly so the people put another jumper or coat on, afterall that extra layer should help cushion and deflect a few tonnes of tumbling masonry, shouldn't it?!!
So, in summary, Iceman toddle off and have a catfight with Pyro ("Cold" "No Hot", "COLD!" "HOT GODAMMIT!" etc etc), and leave the Ragin' Cajun to get it on with his petite, the delectable Rogue.
