Mystique abandoned him whilst on a mission, coincidentily in a german area...so it's really hard to keep track of his real origin.

not necessarily...I'd say the origin of your birth members makes you what you are, then the area you were raised in. Yeah he's German...just not 'German German'...blood wise.
