My little brother got in huge trouble for drawing a knife in second grade. The school made a big deal about it including interviews, reports, debriefings, etc.
He's was f*cking 7. Seven years old. Seven year old boys play cops and robbers. He thought a super cool knife was super cool. He was seen as potentially dangerous and needed to be investigated...
Edit - It was a year after the Columbine High School shootings. Everyone was looking for any reason to crucify small children in the name of "protecting the children from another Columbine."
