That’s ****ing absurd, I fail to see why the education system has any say in anyone’s property rights off school grounds. They are overstepping their bounds.
I'm going to volunteer at the ACLU just for that and another incident where a kid was expelled simply for posting the lyrics to pumped up kicks on his instagram. They closed the entire district that day too. So stupid. I think the judge tossed the case though.

Sign on government building honoring Civil War general offends ‘women’s dignity,’ lawmaker complains

And what is so offensive? He wasn't in the confederacy or pro slavery. But his last name is hooker. So one entrance says "General Hooker Entrance".

Lol...lunatics.

Here I thought leftists were pro hooker. Weird.

Okay so either this woman is trolling...or we're dealing with a legit leftist lunatic here. Full fledged member of the LLS(Looney Leftist Society).

With the Parkland shooting still in recent memory and school shootings being in the spotlight, it seems they did it on purposes expecting the school to overreact.

Here's the thing though, if the school knew about the pics and didn't act and these two went on a shooting spree, people would go "why didn't the school officials act!?"

Granted, I think the school overreacted, but I can still acknowledge the hard position they were put in considering the current climate.

No, they've been ape-shit over this stuff for over a decade.

My little brother got in huge trouble for drawing a knife in second grade. The school made a big deal about it including interviews, reports, debriefings, etc.

He's was f*cking 7. Seven years old. Seven year old boys play cops and robbers. He thought a super cool knife was super cool. He was seen as potentially dangerous and needed to be investigated...

Edit - It was a year after the Columbine High School shootings. Everyone was looking for any reason to crucify small children in the name of "protecting the children from another Columbine."

That much drama over a knife? Thank goodness they didn't look in my notebook when I was in elementary school.

It goes in cycles. Not surprised that a year after Columbine schools were on high alert and reacting to anything/everything.

Though his age/grade also likely played a large roll, if a high-schooler had drawn a knife, doubt anyone would care when the climate isn't heated, even then, probably not so much.

Wait, by draw do you mean whipped out? Or literally drew on a piece of paper?

Oh, when I first read it I thought "drawn in crayon" or something. If the kid legit whipped out a knife on the playground, yeah, I can see why the school flipped its shit.

There have been stories, long before this last shooting, of kids getting in trouble for biting a poptart into the shape of a gun.
