See, but your attitude isn't going to help the situation at all. Because Muslim women in the west who voluntarily wear these religious garbs will look at this demonization of their choice as all the more reason for them to stand their ground and all the more likely to conceptualize it as them standing up to the pressures to abandon their culture in favor of assimilation, rather than how you conceptualize it as them caving in to the patriarchal pressures imposed on them by Islamic society.When people immigrate to a different land they very often won't feel completely at home there. A void in them is created by being transplanted in an alien culture which they are not intrinsically a part of. So they cling to the remnants of the culture of their homeland that remain in tact.
I think this, more than anything else, is why you will see modern Muslim western women who identify as "feminist" decide to wear some variation of Muslim garb.
But were they not imposed on them though? Who chooses to cover up everything but your eyes and hands willingly?
Keep in mind I'm not saying I'd go up to a Muslim woman and berate her for her clothes and be all "patriarchy did this!".
