Here's what I find really preposterous about the whole discrimination against transgender thing, be it bathrooms, sports, whatever else.Essentially the argument is that it's bigoted and disgusting to segregate on the basis of biological sex and that doing so makes you a regressive piece of shit... but discriminating on the basis of gender identity is A-okay...?
I'm not sure I follow your train of thought?
And the decisions to allow trans people to go to the bathroom of their gender identity and to allows trans people to compete in sports as their gender identity are not comparable.
There are biological advantages males have over females in physicality down to their very bone structure, which sexual reassignment surgery and treatment can not change. I'm not 100% well-versed in the science, but if those advantages persist in trans women then no, frankly they should not be allowed to compete with cis women in physical sports. It simply is not fair to the cis women who are training as athletes to have to compete with someone who has an innate and frankly readily apparent advantage to their physical prowess that women as can't match. In theory anyway. I've never had enough of a horse in this race to do the research to see how true this is and frankly I don't care enough to. And a counterpoint that I've been buzzing in my head for the past two minutes concerning the athletic advantages of being biologically male is that people with huge athletic advantages due to their athletically superior genes (like Lance Armstrong and his big ass heart IIRC) are allowed to dominate their peers without any fuss. One counter I've considered is that the athletic disparity is not as large or insurmountable as the one between biological males and females, which doesn't really satisfy me because I honestly don't know if it's true. Another which I find a bit better is the argument that genetic anomalies like Lance are not "choices" like living and identifying as trans is, so there is less potential for abuse.
By comparison, cis women aren't forced into competition or anything like that by allowing trans women into their bathrooms. The argument made is that it is unsafe for cis women to let trans women in. If there is evidence for that I'd like to see it. 👆
Not challenging you specifically for that, just saying in general. 👆
