If I was funding these clowns, I'd sure want to take a closer look at how they're using my money.
Because this is just a stupid case to lobby. No one in any first world country can force anyone to place ads where they don't want them. The U.K. isn't North Korea.
So lets say you put yourself out there and make a career of triggering people?
Would that put you in the line of fire? Especially if you stepped on a lot of "important toes"? (Say, you railed against Governments, Corporations, and managed to gather enough of a following that people started to notice.)

George Carlin's schtick was offending people. So is Jimmy Carr: he does a great job of offending people.
Same with Christopher Hitchens. He offended tons of Muslims. Wondering why he didn't get assassinated.
Does that help with your thoughts a bit more?
Not even lately, it's been happening for quite awhile now.
There have always been sensationalism for as long as there's been journalism. But it reached a tipping point when AOL bought CNN, and retooled the network to compete with Fox News. All of a sudden, the fact based yet dry style of reporting favored by Ted Turner was out, and MTV style celebrity driven infotainment was in. The digital age only made things worse, where fact checkers and editors were fired in droves to cut costs, because suddenly every blogger can report and everyone wants their news for free.
