thing would hang for a while but the pounders are a def edge here. without i would likely take ben. with i think it's enough edge to take ulik. this isn't a mismatch at all.
One pounder cracked on War Thor's beard.
Either WT is tough as hell or uru is just shitty as f*ck when not enchanted?

Thor's older stories had battles that sometimes went on for multiple books. And, with opponents who just would not go down, (before being sissified for the sake of marketing other characters), Thor did not hold back. Ulik was one of those opponents."To the Death", says Thor.

Originally posted by Faceesadly, the point still stands. Thor is undeniably above the thing and ulik can hang with and even push Thor. Ben loses, but not horribly. As a matter of fact, Ulik probably salutes Ben for making it such a good fight and standing his ground even when he knew he was going to lose.

Classic Thor was highly inconsistent. He was weak as shit at times. Ulik was stated by Marvel editors to be around Things level. Thing with pounders would have given Thor one hell of a fight too.
Currently, Thor has one shot Ulik and straight embarrassed him. There levels are not even remotely close.

Ulik has a large number of good showings against Thor and a potential win, whetr Odin had to come in and save Thor by banishing Ulik.
Regardless if what might have been said, one time, by "Marvel", (whoever THAT is referring to), about Ulik only being as strong as Thing, there are many, many showings of Ulik taking Thor'attacks without flinching or even slowing down, while hurting Thor, putting him on the ground, with on-panel statements placing Ulik at Thor's level.
"Inconsistant"? Hell yeah.
"Deppowered" in more recent appearances? Of course. Just like ALL the old heavy-hitters.
But these r the facts-
1. Ben never has and never would b able to go against Thor, take the same punishment and give the same punishment as Ulik has.
2. Ulik has far too many good showings against Thor, numbers-wise, to b ignored.
3. Damage done, damage received, durability, strength and suppoting panels and comments, place Ulik in a high tier. Even with losses to Thor and recent low showings. Ulik has the numbers in his favor.
Ben is one of my favorite characters and I have many posts in this forum, where i complain about how he has never been allowed to advance in power or showings. I'm just dealing with the facts.

You keep assuming Thor was operating at a high level when he fought Ulik. Ulik was listed at 90 tons or so.
Thing had several good fights with Hulk and even Hulk outclassed Thor before.
