There was really nothing stopping the Republicans from a full repeal and replace except themselves.

The person that stopped it was a man with vengeance in his heart by the name of John McCain.

Its very obvious that McCain is senile, forgetful, angry and revengeful and now has brain cancer. At 80 years old with this diagnosis, I don't know how you don't want to go home and spend your last days with your family. My only guess is he craves power, the lime light, and refuses to just get over not winning the 2008 election. He just can't get over it, coupled with his hate for Trump. Its a very dangerous place to be.

Dems have offered a single amendment to fix it, its easy to blame republicans when the Dems wont even try.

Democrats have proposed many things to try and improve obamacare, the GOP led congress simply wasn't interested.

McCain did the right thing. His governor was against the skinny repeal and he said from the start that he'd go with his governor.

I see statements of people saying we need to fix it, can you find actual amendments in black and white putting the money where their mouth is?

I just don't understand him, if I had brain cancer and couldn't question people properly on the senate panel in from on millions of people, and having trouble performing my job, I would retire.

If it makes you feel better, I can't see him being a Senator much longer. I'm just glad he's going out on a positive note. His ' 👇 ' will be cemented in political history.

Democrats are trying to add a mountain of amendments to the GOP's Obamacare replacement — including renaming it the 'Republican Pay More for Less Care Act'

Democrats have begun their fight against the GOP's replacement for the Affordable Care Act, the healthcare law better known as Obamacare.

As the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday held its first day of debate over the GOP replacement, the American Health Care Care Act, Democrats introduced a series of largely symbolic amendments to add to the bill. While the amendments will be considered by the committee, they have to be approved by a majority vote in the Republican-controlled committee to officially become part of the bill.

Here's a quick rundown of some of the more notable amendments from Democrats, in order of their introduction:

Change the short title of the AHCA to the "Republican Pay More for Less Care Act.

"The bill cannot pass unless theCongressional Budget Office and Joint Committee on Taxation say_it will lower out-of-pocket costs for Americans, lower premiums, and provide more people coverage. These were three promises made by President Donald Trump in the lead-up to the bill's introduction. This was defeated by a party-line vote of 31 to 23 overnight.

The bill cannot pass until "the individual who holds the office of President makes available to the public authenticated copies of the individual's returns of Federal income tax for the most recent ten taxable years." In other words, the amendment would require_Trump to release his tax returns_if the bill is passed.

The bill cannot leave committee until_the CBO has scored the bill_and the score has been public for 30 days. Numerous other amendments were attached to CBO scores, including that the CBO must certify that more people will have insurance under the AHCA and that there will be no reduction in mental-health services. A score from the CBO is not expected until next week.Strike the "per capita cap-based payments under Medicaid" in the AHCA and stay with the current Medicaid expansion funding. This amendment was also defeated by a 31-to-23 vote.Preserve federal funding for Planned Parenthood, which the_AHCA would do away with. This was defeated on a 31-to-23 vote along party lines.

In other words they trolled Trump. So like I said they didnt introduce anything.

Some of those are pretty funny though, you have to admit.

I admit its funny, but you have to admit they didn't do shit like I said.

Well they were out of power, so whatever they were to offer would have been shot down anyways because Republicans had a vested political interest in Obamacare not working very well.

This is why we have gridlock. Besides Obamacare, did Obama pass any major legislation?

Yeah, he did.

The most obvious being the stimulus package in 2009 to help with the recession.

Also the dodd/frank act.

Besides stimulus, which was happening regardless of him.

So Dodd Frank and Obamacare, anything else?

Those were probably the biggest.

I have to admit I couldn't help laughing at the fact that after this you had various media outlets essentially going "maverick! maverick!".

I guarantee you that is what this is about too lol, that is how McCain...in his mind, sees himself.

lol
