Black Pole Bawer Aondo-Akaa plans to sue @guyverhofstadt for describing those who attended #MarszNiepodleglosci as '60,000 fascists, neo-nazis and white supremacists'.

Mr. Aonco Akaa, a social activist and a well-known persona in Cracow can be seen in the middle here:

Again, Poland has the 5th largest Nazi Skinhead population in the world, and 60,000 of them just marched in the country a few days ago. So, yeah, Poland has a big Nazi problem.

Agreed, it's a good river though for a felucca ride on a Thursday night with a beer.

Have you been to Egypt lately? I am wondering about going for holidays.

I was in Cairo in September and Sharm in June. It's fine, really. If I were you I'd do Hurghada more western faces. Although I like to dive and if I want a dirt cheap holiday where I can get hammered, the Radisson in Sharm does an all inclusive for peanuts and you can drink as much as you want at night and dive all day, it's also near the Jolie Ville which is a good Golf course. Sadly less European and Eastern European girls around than before the Russian plane bomb. Few diresct flights from Europe, more from Eastern Europe.

Cairo, I'd say be careful. Especially if you don't speak Arabic. More shit happens there than the news lets on.

I see. Thanks for the info.

Hmm Sharm might be interesting. That could be might first "proper" diving, although I had some experience in Greece.

I've heard some nice stories about Egypt but from the people who were there years back. I am looking for doing both sightseeing and having some fun. TBH Egypt is on my bucket list 🙂

Egypt is athird world country, the first revolution bought them poverty, the second terrorism. It is full of people who will try and rip you off. But it is amazing. Luxor at Christmas would be a good place to start the Egypt experience, Christmas morning in Balloon over the Valley of Kings at Sunrise. But be careful, it can get dangerous. I visited Egypt for the first time almost 4 decades ago with my parents and brother. My dad had worked for a short time after the Army in Damascus for the foreign office and had been before. I have loved it and the middle east ever since.

Sounds very cool. If I go, however, that would be spring/summer.

Yeah, I hear Middle East is special. Pretty ****ed up today by wars, upheavals and the like. A play thing for Western powers for the most part. ehh

Yes it is, it also has a very different mindset to the west, you know how when you think in English you think in a slightly different way than when you think in Polish, I find the shift much more pronounced when I am thinking in Arabic.

Spring/Summer it gets very hot. Not Riyadh hot, hardly anywhere gets like that, but it still gets in the mid 40's at the height of summer in Egypt.

If you do the pyramids you have to do Giza, but Dashure and Sakhara are both better in my opinion.

The white desert is a little hidden gem and Alexandria has a small roman coliseum and catacombs. I will be honest though Petra in Jordan is as impressive as any of it and Gobekli Tepe near Sanliurfa in Turkey blows my mind more than anything anywhere. Egypt though is worth a look Cairo is a massive disgusting city undergoing hyper urbanisation, the infrastructure cannot keep up with the population. Ansir Bait is also still around. It reminds me of Mega city one when you fly in in daylight because all you see from the window is tower block of brown after tower block of brown. The E. coli is different and you will get loose stalls. 🙂

Spot on about languages and changes in thinking that they entail. 👆

I also speak some Spanish and it is really fascinating to me how your language determines your reality.

Oh I imagine Arabic, being from a dfferent civilization, is a much bigger mental jump to take. BTW how long did it take you to learn Arabic? Can you say you are fluent in that language?

I remember when I was a child I got a book about 7 wonders of the world or something similar. Petra was there. I remember imagining I was Ali Baba wandering through the streets there.

From how you talk about it, I can see you have a true, deep appreciation of that part of the world. 👆 I think stuff like this reasonates with everybody. Makes us see the world as something to cherish.

I am not as fluent as I would like to be in Arabic and consider myself still learning after 5 years working on it seriously but I do think in it when I want to and read it and can make myself understood in most places. In Morocco the Arabic is bloody weird and other Arabs cannot understand them. MSA and TA (Egyptian have significant differences but a lot of overlap). For me the most awesome place for historical monuments is Cambodia and I recommend it on your bucket list if you haven't been. It is amazing.

Still, good job. Arabic seems so hard to me.

Hmm my bucket list is expanding, yeah. South East Asia is also very interesting from what I gather. Basically too much to see, too little time.

Yes it is, but Cambodia is easily the best stop there, I recommend it in January time. I am in Thailand then after a quick 5 days in the UK because I don't get a Christmas holiday atm. Islamic tt etc. The temple of light alone is worth admission and the women due to the French Influence are also worth the price of Admission. Cambodia is a favourite place to hide for me.

Sure I'll give it a try.

What do you mean about women? They prefer foreigners?
