Should Racism and Biggotry be criminalized?

Should the US making Racism a crime?

Is it possible to make racism a crime?

We have Hate Crimes now so I would say it is already.

I mean racism without a crime. Like saying "kill all blacks" or "kill all white people." SC says hate speech is protected.

I would say NO, but if you really want to live somewhere where this kind of thing is already happening.....Move to Canada. They are well on their way to it.

Hate speech is protected, advocating violence is not. So you couldn't say "kill all blacks". If you wanted to say "blacks are inferior to whites" yes, you can say that. Before the usual suspects freak out, I was using that as an example.

IMO, there shouldn't be hate crimes. This doesn't mean I am saying people can commit acts against others, like beating down a black guy cuz he is black. But beating down someone is already illegal. So I mean, unless they are gonna do something where a person would not get as much jail time if they had just attacked the black guy because they wanted money as opposed to attacking him because he is black, what is the point of the hate crime thing?

👆 👆 👆 All of this.

As a liberal and not a neo-progressive, I believe everyone's freedom of speech should be protected and that no group has a right to not be offended that trumps an individual's right to have sovereignty over their own speech.
