How did the Dread Masters get captured in the first place?

I mean, sure, Jaric Kaedan was a strong Jedi, but the Dread Masters possess the power to drive entire fleet panic in fear. All of them are very powerful Sith even before they had become the Dread Masters. They got captured alive, what really happened there?

They were ambushed. The fact it was led by Kaedan doesn't mean a trillion other Jedi didn't join in, also.

Because....reasons. Something...it never really was explained, even further it's confusing that later on that they do what they can do...so it makes even less sense that they were captured at all.
