Walter dwarfs Tony Soprano intellectually, and given every resource he has from his show gives him far more resources IMO. Walter White made eighty million in less than a year in season five. Tony's wealth from what I've read is estimated to be about in the range of 1-6 million a year. So in terms of personal finances Walter outperforms Tony rather easily. Tony does have some influence with the New York Mafia families, and somewhat lesser influence with the Italian ones, but it's at least equaled and probably surpassed by Walter's international connections throughout the series, like with German tycoon Madrigal Electromotive. He also has the neo nazi gang on his payroll in season five, a far more heavily armed outfit than the goons Tony typically employs in Sopranos. Tony also has the prodigious talents of Mike Ehrmantraut or however the **** you spell his last name, giving him a rather significant logistics advantage.
For now I'd have to give it to Walter White, though I am not finished with the Sopranos yet, having just finished episode three of season four last night. Good thread though.

The one from only a few years ago, as opposed to the 40's-50's era of the Godfather.Walt can hire a few hitmen squads with snipers and full auto weaponry and just sit back. Also he wasn't really a public figure like Tony was, so it'll be a lot harder to get to Walter than the other way around.
Though yes it is true that Tony Soprano is a publicly known figure. Heisenberg is an alias Walt uses. Walter White himself is a nobody.
