I would be curious to see the numbers for how many times firearms are used defensively in this country every year. I do not even mean just used to defend yourself via killing, just used as a defense.
I wonder how it would compare? And it doesn't even need to be against a human. It could be a wild animal.

Don't play innocent: you know the answer.
But Obama paid to have this researched.
“Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies,” the CDC study, entitled “Priorities For Research to Reduce the Threat of Firearm-Related Violence,” states.

But let's cut right to the point with research from the Violence Policy Center:
"During this same five-year period, only 235,700 of the self-protective behaviors involved a firearm."

So from a biased source, they still found data that estimates 235k over 5 years. That's quite a lot. Far less than the 2.5 million a year number that the NRA claims. But still a lot.
