So? He still pretty much tanked it, it mainly just did superficial damage. It was pretty clear that BlackBolt could scream until his voice was hoarse and Thanks would still be able to continue fighting

1. The definition of tanking something means that it does not damage at all. You can't "pretty much tank it". You either tank it, or you don't.

2. Maximus outright said that the machine had drawn a massive amount of power away from boltagon. He was weakened.

Ehhh, maybe I am wrong but when somebody basically puts their face into your best attacks and then face mushes you while your doing said attack, that may not be tanking it but it's pretty damn close.
