How has no one mentioned any of the characters from the new expanded universe? There are so many new characters in canon. And without the Legends continuity, there's really not that much more information on characters from the Prequel Trilogy. There's a lot more material being published that's about the Original Trilogy, though.

He like Khan before him is simply Quan Magic.

They just aren't as strong or badass as Legends characters.
Like that one time Kyle punched a Kell Dragon to death.
Okay, but they are more interesting. Yoda wasn't "badass" in the Original Trilogy, but he was one of the best characters. Same with Luke in the first film.
The stories of Thane Kyrell and Cienna Ree are incredibly interesting stories. Arson Krennic has a personality which is very unique and enjoyable to watch. Kylo Ren is a very complex character with 5 conflicting wants (as far as I've counted). The list goes on. ]
The Legends continuity was always about world-building and not interesting characters (not to say that there was any shortage), so I guess the focus away from world building maybe has made characters seem less "badass", but the ones that are meant to be, like Mace Windu and Darth Vader, totally are.
