OT era guys hated the Prequels for being so different, PT era youngsters hate TFA for being too much of the same.

Abrams is there to reboot/rehash things for a new audience. And he’s generally good at that. He’s not the guy whose gonna blow your mind with his creativity though.

Also contrary to common belief, Star Wars didn’t “need” a reboot.

^ But then I never should have expected Disney could Just get new director to equal Lucas’s creative eye. If it were that easy there’d be a hundred equally popular movie franchises out there.

Well I got to see the Millenium Falcon in action again (loved the way it was reintroduced), and I did really like Finn. So I’d be lying if I said I outright hated the film.

TFA.

I wouldn't have minded an actual reboot, but to regurgitate ANH so shamelessly and repackage it as a "continuation" or "the next chapter" is such a colossal letdown.

I disliked virtually everything about it. Hopefully TLJ will wring something memorable from it.
