Yeah, good thing the writers thought of this instead of that obviously stupid and unbelievable Annatar Lord of Gifts plot device.

We'll ignore the fact that the three elven rings were made first instead of last in this series, that Sauron had no hand in making the other rings, that he was mistrusted by everyone BUT Celebrimbor, etc. etc.

The idea that the showrunners think Sauron is a complex "antihero" like Walter White can only mean good things.

I heard this is SUPER WOKE because they hired some black actors. 🙄

OMG BLACK PEOPLE!! IT'S WOKE!!!!!

... and out of Far Harad black men like half-trolls with white eyes and red tongues.

- Return of the King

First three eps of S2 have some issues, but I like it so far.

Unironically what's wrong with this? With portraying Sauron as more morally complex than he is in the books? Not watched the show just want to know what at face value makes this bad.

Reading TolkienGateway, which I assume is accurately based from Tolkien's works, the show isn't vastly diverging when it comes to the rings creation. Sauron appears as Annatar and dupes. The three elven rings already existing is obviously way out of place and stupidly done.
