Yeah, a Kenobi who had elevated himself by letting go of the sum of his emotional turbulences throughout his life, except his attachment to Anakin( which he let go of later). Which, pretty evidently increased his performance significantly.

The previous iteration of Kenobi, he was evidently close to stomping, not exactly managing it only because of Obi Wan's intimate familiarity with him. Even so, in pretty short order, the fight would have been over, had Obi Wan not resorted to a cheap-shot by EM on his artificial hand.

So Kenobi was about to get stomped by Anakin when somewhat restrained, but managed to defeat him when actually drawing his own full power, which he would have access to normally.

So in others words, Mustafa Anakin couldn't defeat Kenobi.

The thing is, he wasn't restrained as you are thinking. The only hesitancy he had was that he didn't want to strike Anakin down but that does nothing to prevent him from defending himself using his full power and given that he is primarily a defensive fighter basing his entire style on tiring his opponents out and exploiting gaps when they are vulnerable, there wouldn't have been much of a difference anyways.

Not to mention, after he "lets go" he still is as much attached to Anakin as he was before( until the beginning of the climax of the fight when he lets go of that as well), and there is pretty big jump in performance. It was that "letting go" of a life's worth of emotional baggage for him, except his love for Anakin, that transformed him.

In other words, Kenobi elevated himself during the fight itself. And it is pretty obvious that dropping a cumulative worth of things that haunt him since a long time would increase his capabilities. The difference in performance speaks.

So, yeah, this isn't a normal Kenobi, or a previous iteration of Kenobi. As previously, he would still have the said mental baggage.

There isn't any confusion in what you're trying to explain LOTL. That because of a passage explaining how the master eventually uses his full power, Obi Wan becomes Kenobi 2.0 with a never-seen-before boost in abilties. And while you might think your new interpretation of the scenario is correct because you came up with it, I happen to think it's retarded, and much like the MUH MEGALITH saga, it's based on very little.

With Anakin's grip on his wrists bending his arms near tobreaking, forcing both their lightsabers down in a slow but unstoppable arc, Obi-Wan let go. Of everything. His hopes. His fears. His obligation to the Jedi, his promiseto Qui-Gon, his failure with Anakin. And their lightsabers.

- Revenge of the Sith

So we see that there are various demons plaguing Obi Wan's conscious during the start of his battle with Anakin. Now why do you think these thoughts are lingering within during this particularly problematic scenario. Could it be because he's being sent to kill some he's personally apprenticed for a decade, whom he considers a "brother" and that Anakin's treachery is something he feels personally responsible for? Seems likely doesn't it.

So you'll have to explain to me why - or where it's pointed out - that he's carrying this same emotional baggage in fights with Grievous, Dooku or anyone else for this matter before you can conclude that Kenobi has gained some sort of permanent amp that saw him through the Mustafar fight, rather than him just using letting go and using his full power, that he can tap at any time.

I'll give a more elaborate reply later. My term exams start day after tomorrow.

Why does Matthew Stover get off so much on sentence fragments?
