I was seeing it in a lot of more prosperous countries oddly enough. Some of the more wealthy Germans were looking a bit bigger. I even noticed that the Okiawans percentage of heavier set people was higher than when I was stationed there 7-10 years ago. America takes, and eats apparently, the cake though so far.

I think anyplace where they are starting to do well financially will set the rise of obesity. That's when the fast food and processed food starts rolling in and the weight gains start.
