If it had merely imitated Colossus strength, then they would have been equals...
After draining him, they clearly were not; the Sentinel was far superior to Colossus after the drain and killed him very rapidly...

The movie directly tells you that they captured Rogue so that they could weaponize her power...
We saw the fruits of their labor when the Sentinel used Power Drain on Colossus and became far stronger than him...
I can believe you cant accept what the movie directly gives you...

The Sentinel had a slight (but significant) advantage prior to the Drain; Colossus was losing, but wasnt being immediately killed..
After the Drain, the fight was completely one sided in the Sentinels favor; this is evidenced by how quickly the Sentinel ended Colossus once the Drain was complete...

The non-Canon version of the movie didn’t show anywhere that they succeeded in copying Rogue’s powers.
There’s zero evidence that Colossus it the othe X-Men were drained. If the X-Men were not drained then the Avengers won’t be drained.
