The whole exploration thing has never done well on the big screen.

Films do well when picking up on some great plot/villain from the series like Klingons/Khan/The Borg.

An exploration angle can be used to tangle with the Borg.

The Borg being the best villains in all of Trek.

I've enjoyed all the new Star Trek films, hope they can work out the details and make another one before the Tarantino one.
