Tourney Invitation - High Meta tier

Started by Philosophía30 pages

I'd rather keep it one character that 'wins' the high-meta tourney.

I'm not opposed to keep randomizing/adding it if that's what people want, but meh. Too much shuffling ruins the focus.

You did good Philo, solid tournament and the randomizing was enough spice as it is.

yeah this looks like it could be good stuff. well done. hope it runs smoothly. 👆

So, just to clarify, do I get Aquaman with his water hand?

Phil just likes randomizing bc in the four-person mini-tourney we were in, randomizing drafts was the only thing that gave them a chance against me.

Yeah, I need clarification on this. I'm assuming no water hand or trident...

Fixed.

Water hand Arthur IMHO wpuld be above high meta, at the very least low/ mid herald. The water hand increased his TP substantially (casually breaching MMH's TP defense) and gave him far too much else. Control of water/water constructs, dimensional travel, tje abilitt to tap into the "dream well" of all mankind (tap the universal river of subconscious thought - though this left him vulnerable so no use in a tourney with no prep), complete counter/ immunity to magic (also irrelivant considering players on the field)

Thats my 2 cents anyway.

Bottom line he has feats of being able to do with TP what MMH in some instances cant so shouldnt be needed.

Nope. 'Normal' Aquaman. This one:

We even had to randomize twice to keep you from webbing us.

So I do get the trident?

Yes. The trident from Geoff Johns Brightest Day arc [i.e. last version before New 52 reboot]

I didnt read the arc in question (that is didnt see much of Arthurs appearances in brightest day) but the only trident I know of pre 52 is the trident of Posieden that was given to Arthur as a reward for saving Posieden from Hades. Last time I checked that one gives him control over water to tue point he can cause earthquakes and tremors by affecting movement of tectonic plates.

I sorta assumed the one in the JL movie was based on it given how he stopped moved the tunnel floods.

@Pr correct me if I'm wrong, he never really used that onr much. Instead leaving it under guard in Atlantis

He didn't use it much, as seen when he had to grab it for Imperiex....

Yeah, it was kept as a kind of occasional weapon up until Brightest Day, where he seemed to carry it wherever he went. IIRC it is the same trident too, so unless I'm remembering wrong it should still be capable of what it was before.

I was under the impression that the trident's capabilities were solely stab/block, given Mera came into the picture and those types of abilities weren't shown from that point on. Kind of an implied retcon. I even remember at one point Aquaman saying that he can't control water, only Mera can.

Unless that's true, I change the stipulations so that the Aquaman with the hook hand is drafted [i.e. the one from Grant's JLA].

I'll be honest, there might be things I'm attributing to the Water Hand, but one thing I do definitely remember is that the trident could "power up" and channel said energy destructively.

It wouldn't be the first time Johns has done something like that, but it's a tricky situation. It's your tourney anyway, so obviously the final decision rests with you. I haven't read those preboot comics in years 😖

Let's go with hook hand.

It's for all intents and purposes what I had in mind with the trident.

Hook hand is cool. Still gives a ranged weapon as Arthur could fire it and it had a retracrible line likr a wirepoon.

I'll be honest if he had the trident, I'd be asking to access at least a little pheonix force to face him.

Of course there is the fact that trying to find the 4 to 7 feats of Arthur actually using the trident's more isoteric abilities is a damn hard thing to do (even for die hard fans like me).

Boks, seeing as you're so wise, have you got any esoteric scans of Susan Storm?
