She stalemated him in raw force power. In terms of a full fledged saber duel, Kylo is better, as per Snoke's comments when he explains why Kylo lost.
Snoke fully explains why he lost. He's more skilled with a saber but her equal in terms of force power. We also see he does better against Snoke's guards than Rey does if you pay close attention.
God, Ren was hurted by low-level former stromtrooper, who lost to other stormtrooper. Then he lost to a girl, that was using a lightsaber for a first time. He's also even more unstable then Anakin mentally.
Anakin, as child of the Force itself, should be stronger in a raw power. He has better saber techinque, better feats.
Then only thing, Kylo might be superior in, is his command over the Force, TK especially. Not enough to not be comfortably beaten by Anakin.

Post-AotC Anakin got his ass kicked by a pirate, lol.
McP seems like a child who thinks people can't be beaten in thr right situations and to deify thr older characters even though there were plenty of embarrassing moments there as well. Hondo holding Dooku, Anakin, and Kenobi hostage for ****s sake. Ventress force choking both Kenobi and Anakin at the same time when they left themselves open. Yoda needed help against droids from the Clones, etc.
Kylo beats the shit out of Anakin. He's extremely powerful and skilled but was spiritually split in half when he fought at the end of the first film. Not only that but he was shot by chewies weapon.
