How out-of-the-loop is the news media on Star Wars?

This article claims: "That wasn’t always the case, of course; when the project was announced, Solo — which, for the longest time, was referred to by some variation of the phrase “Untitled Han Solo Project,” before the title was revealed in October — was greeted with great excitement by the target demographic."

I did not see one person excited for the movie when it was announced.

Also, the article claims fans are now expecting Solo to flop and abandoning initial expectations, but I've yet to see anyone who's thoughts on the film has decreased over time.

This generation of SW fans don't give af about Han Solo.

Was there ever a time that this mess of a project looked to be popular?

My love for you grows with each day Ant. The media is slowly dying anyway, you can thank the President for that. It's truly spectacular.
