Then it kind of descended into derivative horror tropes.

I was reminded of this just now. Need to remember to look for this.

I watched this. Thought it was great. Sort of a creature feature that's thin on plot, but what it lacks in plot it makes up for with cinematography, music, and editing. It's very character driven. Highly recommend it.

I have it. but haven't watched yet. Might try tonight.
