All depends really. Because once you go for that weapon, either you put him, or he puts you down.
Can’t second guess youreselves and say am sorry. That’s why where ever I go, I always carry the minimum of two knives just to be safe.

I was in the Middle East, aka enemy territory, and they tried to kill me.
I was hoping for more elaborate answers then "Yes or No" to share the experience.
I've had a loaded crossbow pointed at me by a drunk bikie.
He had tried to rape my friend's mom the previous night.
When she told us the next morning about the incident, we all armed ourselves with baseball bats, chains & a machete & drove to his place out in the bush to confront him.
We found ourselves standing on side of the living room with him on the other side aiming a loaded crossbow at us.
The mom then stood in front of us all, told the bikie he had 2 days to get out of town & then gave us the signal to demolish everything he owned.

Oh for sure...on hindsight, it was a stupid move on my part & my friends.
But when you're 16 yrs old & literally wake up to see your best friend's mom with a black eye, busted lip & bruises on her arms...all sustained by someone you know...we kinda felt revenge was needed instead of justice from the police.
And yeah lucky the mom insisted on coming because without her there at the confrontation, someone could've easily gotten killed.
