The thing is, going by political narrative, red state social Darwinism creating such wealth gaps is the expected result.
On a national level, sure, there's only so much they can do. But locally? At the state and municipal level? Why are so many leftists living right next to impoverished neighborhoods, instead of putting their money where their mouth is, literally, and doing everything they can to even things out.
I mean, it's only greedy capitalist conservatives that care about being rich as the world burns around them, amiright?

Well, welfare states would attract the poor. Sanctuary states would also attract illegals (w/c would normally be in the lower economic segment). Could be the nature of the beast or unavoidable for certain states.
Of course, I'm just making completely unresearched assumptions here, so feel free to correct with actual stats. 😛
