This is EXTREMELY important, judges, as it means that one of the biggest weaknesses of Creel - being turned into water, or cocaine, or Lego, or indeed, anything else - is now negated. I AM Mjolnir, for all intents and purposes.

With the simple caveat, that just as THEIR Mjolnirs are incredibly durable/immune to tampering, so too am I.

So, in summary. This was a short and sweet writeup:

I enter the match as Mjolnir Man. Mjolnir Man has the properties of Mjolnir - enchantments that not even THE Skyfather could break, the ability to always target my enemy, and, the ability to summon massive phucking storms from the dawn of time. Endlessly. Over and over and over again.

At speeds faster than the Silver Surfer (please see my opponent’s OP for Surfer speed feats.

Supermutant POST

The Above Happen While Fighting 2 Thanoses, Yeah My Opponents are Screwed.

I’m up against two tourney pros known for their clever plans. But I’m packing the most power, and I know how to use it. So most likely initially, DS is going to try an absorb his uru hammer, and Leo is going to use deceptive magic backed by his mjolnir. Here’s how I counter their plans and win.

First thing I conceal my presence which gives me more than enough time to get off my first attack unimpeded. The Silver Surfer (SS) was able to hide from Eternity, Watchers, and everything else in creation for millennia.

And this is my first attack which only take seconds--I turn my opponents’ mjolnirs into cardboard.

SS has already turned mjolnir from alien-looking wood back to normal, while Jane Thor was holding it. As seen with the below scans, SS ex-girl Shalla Bal was leading her people in using forbidden tech to shape other worlds into the image of Zenn -La. Earth was the next planet in line and was already undergoing the transformation, which once complete would be permanent. The Thing and later the Avengers showed up and was immediately change into the image of Zenn-La, in both mind and body.

They attacked SS who knocked them back without hurting his friends. SS changed them back to their normal selves. SS was able to matter manipulate whole planets simultaneously across the universe. He even had to restructure the minds of all persons affected. ”Which was thousands of worlds throughout the cosmos.” Of course that took all of his power cosmic and some of his life force, but here I only have to change two objects. So I have more than enough power for that.

Below is another time SS overcame Odin’s enchantment and change the composition of a hammer, Beta Ray Bill’s Stormbreaker with the power cosmic. Odin didn’t even know what SS was doing to Stormbreaker or how he did it.

The matter manipulation of my opponents’ hammers also takes care of Absorbing Man as he will turn to cardboard from touching his hammer, while I performed said feat in seconds. Then I trapped him in a cardboard box just like when Thor tricked him into become cardboard. And trapped him in a cardboard box lol.

So now that Loki doesn’t have a hammer anymore, I take away his magic as well. Using my mjolnir I encircled Loki in a cone that “negate all mystical energy!”

Then I blast him with lightning that hurt King Thanos, Thanos, and Herald Ghostrider simultaneously. But, I don’t stop until he is utterly destroyed or at least koed. Without magic or a hammer, he isn’t lasting very long at all. As the god of thunder my lightning has even hurt the Chaos King.

No time manipulation shenanigans is going to work against SS, since he can see the past, present, and future all at once.

SS was able to outrace a wave of universal destruction, and the destruction of all reality, which includes timelines.

He did this via traveling at super speed to the past, since the destruction of reality started from the future (which was wiped out), and was moving its way to destroy the present, and eventually to the past.

Unlike others I will instantly know everything about the capabilities of mjolnir with my cosmic awareness. Crusher Creel is not the most astute person to say the least, anything but a basic application of mjolnir would be too much for him to use effectively.

In conclusion this battle is pretty cut and dry. SS will use matter manipulation on my opponents’ hammers leaving them with cardboard substitutes. My mjolnir will be stopping Loki’s magical energies. Absorbing Man will be rendered inert by any number of ways I demonstrated. And Loki will be koed by skyfather damaging lightning or trapped in my surfboard, or life force drained, or any other listed way that will dispose of him. Lastly, I have on panel defenses to any tomfoolery and subterfuge my opponents my try. Moreover my durability is extremely high as with mjolnir I can tank multiple Hulk punches, and I can reform and heal myself.

LEONIDAS POST PART 1

So, my plan is pretty simple, but requires the review of a couple well known facts:

A) One of Loki’s more often-used powers is his ability to control spirits—his own and others:

In the scans we see loki’s spirit take possession of the destroyer (from across the universe), we see him possess a random street walker and touch tarene (whose spirit he then SENDS into the destroyer with a touch), we see him swap souls with ODIN (in the odinsleep) we see him possess war machine, AND the famous theft of sif’s body (simultaneously trapping her spirit in that of an old, dying mortal.)

FACT 1: Loki knows spirits.

B) Loki also has strong mental powers:

In the scans we see him actually mentally manipulate both thor and the HIGH COUNCIL, (including ODIN) in Asgard, we see him root through she-hulk’s mind, we see him go through odin’s mind again, (who had forgotten who he was) and most importantly we see him meld minds with thor and balder who willingly opened themselves up to him. He can even cast his psionic abilities through time and dimensions:

FACT 2: Loki knows psychic power.

Those 2 important facts established, we can begin.

THE PLAN

1. I hit the BF and raise a shield. Loki’s speed has been discussed many times on the forum, and the fact is, he can be damn fast when he has to be. This has long been established. Here we see Loki cast a spell AFTER Thor has thrown Mjolnir—cast “as quickly as thought itself”:

Hey, I’m not saying he’s the fastest character in comics, I’m only saying that he can react and cast spells extremely quickly if he needs to.

So, at the speed of thought, I cast a shield spell through Mjolnir, amping its power. Here Loki—on his own—casts a shield easily capable of keeping out THE VOID:

You see him in Strange’s robe, and may have read on the forum that he was the Sorcerer Supreme at the time.

That of course is wrong. The second scan shows he was NEVER the sorcerer supreme, he TRICKED Strange with an illusion and PRETENDED to be the SS. LOL A great feat of illusion to trick Strange so completely, but he NEVER gained any power because he was never the SS.

As added insurance, I command Mjolnir to raise a second “indestructible” shield:

Once the second one is up, I also reinforce it. Between the two shields, I should be safe. It’s possible they could drain the shields, but it would def take time.

2. Shields up, I begin in earnest. I do a couple more things at the speed of thought. First I cast a spell that will MAGNETIZE BOTH THEIR HAMMERS, forcing them to be drawn and stuck together:

A couple amazing things in that scan—first, he magnetizes URU to URU! Lol just like I’m doing. Secondly, he casts that spell from Asgard to Earth, again showing the range and control he has. In order to respond to his spell Mjolnir had to jump into the Asgard dimension—the pull was that overwhelming. Mutant and DS either release their hammers, or are pulled directly together. Have fun with that. 😂

2. Next, I influence CREEL into attacking Surfer. Our history is long:

Loki gave Creel his power, and he knows “how to NULLIFY it”. He chose not to (here), because he needed Creel to fight Thor, but his mastery over Creel was obvious. A mastery that continued MUCH later when he showed how easily he could influence Creel:

Notice too—another spell across dimensions and the ease with which he FOUND Creel. The next scan shows Loki GIVING Creel power by enabling him to fly:

Clearly the bond is still tight, and still exists. So, like Loki did in the Avengers scan, I psychically “persuade” him to go after Norrin and forget about me. The hammer doesn’t grant ‘auto’ immunity to tp, either. Nearly every TP resist feat of Thor is cited as being a result of his GODHOOD, or ‘will’, not the hammer:

To believe the HAMMER grants resistance, requires PROOF the hammer is responsible for blocking TP. I’m also not going for outright control—rather subtle persuasion.

3. While Creel tries to kill Surfer, I weave spells. Next, I shrink my body down to nothing, revealing my soul. Lol Sound crazy? Hardly. Well, maybe, but here Thor uses LOKI’s POWER to do that EXACT thing:

I send it INSIDE MJOLNIR of course! lol

We already know the hammer can hold life force. Here it holds some of ODIN’s life force:

We see the image of Thor himself inside it, signifying the transfer of Thor’s Odin-powered life force into the hammer. More importantly though, we know that it CURRENTLY houses a sentient life force: MOTHER STORM:

Mother Storm is alive and well inside the hammer, and is even capable of taking human form. As someone worthy, I send my soul INTO THE HAMMER, as he partially did here, with a dagger:

I meld my mind to Mother Storm, so that we essentially become one. My soul remains alive inside Mjolnir, and I gain the knowledge and power a full mind meld would give me. I can even SEE through the hammer’s “eyes”:

A remarkable issue, btw, imo. Anyway, once my body is gone and I am inside Mjolnir, the only way to beat me is to destroy the hammer, and no one in this thing is doing that--despite the recent “sun” debacle.

And, since my mind still functions the same way (likely VERY enhanced by my new shared knowledge) I can still cast spells as normal. We know range isn’t a problem, or dimensions or astral forms. So…

4. If Creel hasn’t killed Norrin, I cause SPELLBREAKER to appear:

As you can see, when Loki said he could NULLIFY Creel’s power, he was NOT kidding. I simply put a spell on the sword and have it home in on him and kill him. That eliminates Creel at the very least and ensures I move on. If I need to, I summon a second or third blade to deal with him. With luck, Creel killed SS first before the sword ends him. Loki would also know Creel’s limits and weaknesses:

Note he shifted OUT OF EXISTENCE. That of course would be a self BFR, so...thanks? It also wouldn’t necessarily keep my spell from working and drawing the hammers together. Dimensions/realities don’t matter to my magic, and unlike Eternity I KNOW he’s present.

If he self BFR’s cool. No further worry. If he doesn’t, and stays on the BF, he will be dealing with a magnetized hammer and Creel before he gets a chance to turn to me. Once I’m inside the hammer, I can take my time ending him.

One easy thing I can do is leech his power:

A truly UBER showing. Judges, don’t just ASSUME ss CAN’T be transmuted. He CAN and HAS been both affected and harmed BADLY by magic in the past:

We see SS fail against magic—AGAIN (he is being controlled by magic to fight DRACULA). Loki muddles his mind through magic, we see Loki distort reality for BOR and use a spell of believability. Such a spell could make him think me a friend and drop his defenses.

Or maybe I just pummel the loving sh!t out of him as the hammer. lol Melded as I am, there is even a chance I could borrow MOTHER STORM’s power:

Smurph Verdict:

This was a headache. One-post matches at this tier are difficult to judge. Powersets are complex, and debaters over-rely on getting the benefit of the doubt for their characters, while under-providing evidence to back up their claims. So there’s some ambiguity to wade through.
Jumping straight to the conclusion, I judge the match:

1. Super Mutant
2. Leo
3. Darksaint

Reasoning:

IMO, its safe to assume that the initial actions all happen in roughly the same amount of time, since everybody acts defensively, and nobody’s stressing the superior speed of their opening gambits. So in one breath, Surfer goes stealth, Loki puts up his shields, and Creel absorbs properties from Mjolnir.

From here, I have a lot of running thoughts about the issues in each strategy:

- I don’t think Creel could become = Mjolnir. Obviously Creel could become uru, and DS showed that Creel could definitely absorb power from Mjolnir, and could maybe apply careful enough control to become as powerful as possible without overloading (benefit of the doubt to DS). But there’s enough evidence that Creel can be overloaded by herald-level power that, despite the cosmic cube scan, I don’t see Creel becoming equal in power to Mother Storm. Also, I don’t see Creel having access to every feat and protection available to the hammer, because there’s no evidence that he could copy the spells that make Mjolnir into Mjolnir; instead, it looks like he’d just copy the underlying power (Sentry seems like the closest analogue here). So Creel would end up closer to ‘very powerful Uru man’

- Benefit of the doubt to Super Mutant: I’ll assume that Surfer goes as hidden as possible without BFRing himself. Leo raises a good point that both Loki and Creel will know that Surfer is somewhere on the battlefield though, so I don’t think the Eternity feat translates perfectly.

- Can Surfer transmute the hammers? Superficially, maybe. This issue is simpler. Super Mutant needs more to show that he can casually render Mjolnir powerless. With the scans shown, IMO, at best he can change the composition of them but not rid them of their magic.

- Can AM replicate Jane’s twin hammer feat? To a degree… This was the biggest headache. Kudos to DS for giving us a straightforward plan, but IMO it’s thwarted on two levels: 1, see my first bullet about Creel not being totally equal to Mjolnir; 2, the rules say that a hammer user can’t summon lightning from Mjolnir unless they’ve done it before, and I didn’t see any scans of AM summoning lightning from Mjolnir. Obviously AM himself, as Uru-Man, will be able to summon lightning, but not to the degree shown in the scan. Again, giving DS the benefit of the doubt that Creel can hit his max power before overload, I think it’s still a powerful attack, but not enough to clear the battlefield.

- Leo’s opening tactics (shields, magnetization spell, and manipulation of AM) are all taken directly from Loki/Mjolnir scans, and I think they’d work as shown. This is enough to force a AM/Surfer fight which IMO goes in Surfer’s favour, chiefly due to SM’s evidence that Surfer could transmute and/or scatter Creel to the wind; as mentioned, I don’t think that AM gets access to every Mjolnir protection against such an attack.

- Leo’s later tactics (the multi-step process of becoming one with the hammer) are much more suspect. a) I don’t really know how to interpret that ‘shrink body down to nothing scan’, since it looks to me like there’s still a physical body in the last panel, and as long as there’s a physical body for Surfer to attack… b) in general, while I think Leo did a good job of providing evidence for each of these steps, there’s a lot of assumptions at play here. It’s hard to judge a one-post match because we have to either scrutinize everything or take posters at their word that something would work as shown, and since the latter option is wide open to abuse, I think it’s fairer to say that there’s not enough here to show that Loki could quickly mind meld with Mother Storm.

- So, even if benefit of the doubt for Leo says that Loki can probably shrink his body to literally nothing and just be a soul, and that he could possibly put his soul into the hammer, on the balance of probabilities I think Super Mutant showed enough range of manipulation and attacks that Surfer could use to interrupt, counter, or defeat this process. I found myself wondering if soul-form Loki could get out of Surfer’s board, for instance.

Props to Super Mutant for consistently being a force to reckon with in tourneys lately. 👆

Philosophia verdict

Verdict for the 3-way (longer than people are used to, probably, lol)

Before I start, I would like to say - given that this is a one-post tourney, and thus susceptible to saying anything without getting countered - I applied some of my own knowledge/research in judging some of the presentations, after asking Damborg if it's ok. That only applies to the 'make it or break it' points.

Here's how I see the match:

Darksaint, Absorbing Man

It's a good tactic to start off his post and put an emphasis on him holding Mjolnir at all times [or always having it return to him], so as to avoid getting turned into something else.

Another thing he didn't leave open is him getting overloaded - by pointing out that he will absorb just enough power in order not to self-sabotage himself.

The capability to absorb Mjolnir's power [Uru + Mother Storm] is shown through portrayals where he has done the first [and gained strength roughly that of Thor, relevant for his offense tactic] and approximately the same with the later [cosmic cube]

No scans of Mjolnir's feats of magic protection, though. Scans of Odin not being able to lift Mjolnir aren't exactly convincing. Probably hoped Supermutant would post some?

No hiding. He is out in the open. Will it pay off?

I struggled hard to ignore Absorbing Man's dumbness in order to accept him using the Mjolnir abilities intelligently, in order to replicate Jane's feat, but tourney rules says he can. So he will combine Mjolnir and his properties of Mjolnir's power in order to do that. Ok.

So the plan is to continuously use Mjolnir and its abilities (times two) to 'thuderclap' and hit the opponents with it. Simple plan. Will it work?

Supermutant, Silver Surfer

Off the bat, he uses the mother of all self-BFRs, as he not only phases out of the battlefield, but phases out of the very embodiement of the Universe, Eternity.

Needless to say, this extreme desire to lose by default left me confused.

I'm going to give you some leeway, and interpret it as you doing that for only the first moments of the fight [i.e. a maximum of 5 seconds, as per the rules]

Unlike Darksaint, Supermutant showed off his defence, from resisting Loki/Dr Strange level of magic, to defending against Odin, to Surfer's own shields standing up to the likes of WM Thor etc. Transmutating his body into other stuff would be counter-intuitive [i.e. snowflakes are simpler to erase from existence than his original body], but the scan of Surfer having total molecular control over his body is handy.

There's also no fooling his senses, he can see through illusions and he effectively brings up trapping people in his board.

Onto Supermutant's tactic, I have problems with his initial point. I had to say something here, because this is the single greatest point in this match. He portrays it as Surfer matter manipulating multiple planets (and Mjolnir among the items).

What Surfer did is hack the machine/ship doing the transmutation [which he was intimately familiar with, as it was from his own planet] and change the code so that Zenn-La's culture template is erased from its 'database', and everything goes back to normal. He didn't actually transmutate Mjolnir into anything by himself.

Since Surfer doesn't come equipped with the ship in this fight, that cannot be done here.

The Beta Ray Bill hammer scene has context to it, when Surfer used/synthetized the Odin force, the enchantments being erased etc. Suffice to say, given the last few years, Mjolnir and Stormbreaker are no longer equivalent, given what the former contains and has been defined as.

So we don't have: phasing out of reality, transmutating the other Mjolnirs and also non-canon scans of future Silver Surfer [I assume the tourney doesn't use alternate versions of characters]

Leo, Loki

Leo is a spiritual guru.

He does a good job showing Loki's etheral form.

He puts defense on top of defense with the two shields as a start, then goes soul form.

I'll get into the 'fight' part more what I liked. But to move on to what I didn't:

I don't buy Loki magnetizing the hammer making Surfer and Absorbing Man's come together. Thor wasn't holding it when he did that, and there's no evidence the magnetic field is strong enough to negate both of their [considerable] strenght. That's why Loki waited until Thor threw it. They could then use mjolnir's magnetic abilities to demagnetize the pull.

I was not convinced of Loki putting himself inside Mjolnir. The hammer is..very complicated. It takes powerful magic to have spirits/entities in there, and Loki putting himself in a knife is not enough proof of it. Odin/Odin-powered Thor are not Loki, and I didn't see latter having feats of melding his mind with a SENTIENT GALAXY residing inside Mjolnir. Not happening, imo.

Spellbreaker is not standard equipment for Loki, imo, and we even see it desintegrated in the same scene where Norman uses it. We don't know how he forged it, where etc. I'd need to see more evidence that he can reconstruct/summon it at will.

His ploy is to make them fight eachother. Smart.

The fight:

With both of Darksaint's opponents behind shields/phased at the start, the 'thunderclap' won't be an insta win.

Supermutant's follow-up tactics, unfortunately, rest a lot on nobody else on the field having Mjolnir, as he himself states. It's hard piecing it together when the crux of his attacks, his opponents not having Mjolnir, is not valid.

Trying to drain the arena of magic, sucking Loki's lifeforce out of him, transmutating Absorbing Man or trying to overload him [Mjolnir can just absorb everything, and he's constantly in contact with it, as he's said] are no longer valid. With Mjolnir at hand for each of his adversaries, all of those are rendered null.

I'm afraid that Surfer is, given the tactical mis-judgement, the first to leave himself open. His tactics assumed that he would be able to get rid of the opponents Mjolnirs and throw the hammer to circle the area to drain the magic...something that comes back to bite him in the ass, as he leaves himself vulnerable. Loki specifically tried magnetizing his hammer, so all this would do is make him lose it once he throws it. And BOTH his opponents have hammer in their hands, which can be simply used to stop his.

That said, Leo's strategy of using TP to goad Darksaint into attacking Surfer will most likely be sucessful. Leo is right that automatic TP protection is not a given.

Darksaint wielding the Mjolnir/Mother Storm powered body of Absorbing Man + hammer would attack Surfer and nullify the attacks that Supermutant specified in his post [again, he has Mjolnir] and eventually, double Mjolnir power + Motherstorm would overwhelm him.

So I'm sorry to say but Supermutant is the first to lose.

Spellbreaker imo not being accessible to Loki makes him putting down Absorbing Man more difficult. With Mjolnir in hand, changing him into something more manageable won't work, either.

That said, TP still works. Could he confuse Darksaint enough to make him lose? I don't see why not.

What I didn't see from Darksaint is how he'd try to hurt Loki besides the thunderstuff and, given that Loki is in spirit form this...doesn't bode well for him.

So I'm leaning towards Leo as the winner of this match, with Darksaint as the runner-up.

This match is begging for follow-up posts. I can feel you three itching to debunk the others' strategies. That said, you DIDN'T get subsequent posts, so there's probably a lot of stuff I wouldn't end up believing in a longer match, but that I'll accept due to the scans posted.

It's also an impossible match to judge. Seriously. Does the reality-altering thunderclap happen before or after Mjolnir is turned to cardboard? Or before Creel's powers are shut off? Or do the hammers become magically magnetized and ripped from their wielders before or after cardboard? And are all of these things even possible? You see the dilemma. Rational minds will disagree, and I can't claim that the assessment below is the best one. But I'll try my best.

DS: Becoming Mjolnir was obvious enough, but you maximized that fact to a pleasantly surprising degree. The reality-clap is probably the strongest single attack in this fight, which says a lot.

Mutant: I was unaware of a couple of those Surfer scans - notably the potentially extremely haxx Mjolnir transmutation trick (which could presumably apply to Creel if you're given the chance). Regardless, you used Surfer's strengths to your advantage, and correctly used the magic-block scan for Mjolnir to try to negate Loki. It's not foolproof, but covers your bases well.

Leo: Lol. As usual, there's a lot to unpack here. Magnetizing the Uru of your opponents is clever, and you back up the idea that Loki can negate or influence Creel at will.

In the end, there are too many potential OHK scenarios working against Creel, the magnetized Uru would potentially negate it, and even his mega-attack amounts to "bigger lightning" (cracking time and space is impressive, but is it applicable in a specifically offensive way?), and ANY level of lightning attack is only going to be so effective with multiple Mjolnirs in play. Just a horrible matchup for you, buddy, which I know you realized from the start. But yeah, facing the guy who essentially holds the strings above Creel is a rough draw. I can't award points for bad luck, so he's my #3.

Which leaves a presumably Motherstorm-merged Loki and Surfer. They both would have control over their abilities; I can't imagine one transmuting the other in a OHK way. With Creel out, there's nothing to magnetize Surfer's Mjolnir to, and I'm also not convinced the magic ring that shut down Cain's enchantment would work on someone who has easier ways of escaping. I'm not entirely sure I should believe that Surfer could effortlessly transmute Mjolnir, but I kind of have to since I don't know those scans and no one could rebut. Which leaves Loki not without options, but without his ace in the hole, and against someone with almost as much versatility and more raw power.

There are about a dozen ways I could lean on these issues if there were more time, and I do think Loki could win this match, and Creel could win several others with less onerous matchup issues. But as it is, #1 Surfer, #2 Loki, #3 Creel.
