Can Superman become more powerful than Silver Surfer?

I haven't read a comic about Superman sun-dipping so my knowledge of this event is second hand from the forum, and a vague recollection of Superman 1 Million. Basically my question is, how much time does Superman have to spend in the sun to become as powerful as the Silver Surfer?

During Infinity Crusade, the Surfer absorbs a star which resulted in a musclebound Surfer who flies into a planet and KOs himself (along with part of the planet). It doesn't seem like an efficient use of power but with Starlin writing it, you have to think that's how the Surfer would be if he absorbed a lot of energy. So, with that showing, does it mean Surfer has a ceiling with how much power he can absorb?

So, thirdly, does this mean Superman has the potential to become more powerful than the Silver Surfer?

Superman at his base is stronger and more powerful than SS. Although, SS is more versatile

Sundipping just puts Superman leagues past SS

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I believe Superman has already absorbed enough energy to destroy half a Galaxy before. I think it was the Mageddon arc? Not 100% sure.

No he's not. Silver Surfer is far more powerful than superman.

So who is equal to Surfer in power in DC comics?

How about the Hulk ripoff DAMAGE? You know, the one that's stronger than superman yet nowhere near WWH or WBH. 😛

OWAW Superman acquired enough power to thaw out a frozen earth with his heat vision alone in minutes if not seconds, now THAT is a powerful feat.

It's a BIG debate between Surfer and Thor about who is more powerful, yet when superman held thors hammer, he HIMSELF said he NEVER felt such POWER. Not even a debate really. Even the little mxy knows that.

Batman

No, never.

Where is that stated or shown?

Yet Reed Richards said Superman is likely the most powerful hero on either Earth.

Superman can never be more powerful than Surfer?

And speaking of rip offs, Scarlet Skier is the herald of Mr Nebula (guess whose rip off). And he gets beaten up by G'nort.

G'nort rescues him from killer penguins.

And gets koed by Starman who Valor beats up.

Guess Surfer is not even meta level in DC.

Superman is already more powerful.

Superman has already absorbed anti-sunlight bomb from Maggeddon capable of wiping out half the galaxy.

Even Supergirl has destroyed a moon.

They are equals with Surfer having an edge due to destructive capabilities.

Call for a new thread, pinned, of examples of the most well reasoned KMC responses. With this as the first post.

Excellent argument, man. 👆

What destructive capabilities?

Can Superman become more powerful than Silver Surfer?

The answer is yes. It only requires 2 steps:
(1) Expose Superman to kryptonite.
(2) Remove kryptonite from Superman's vicinity.

Step (2) is when Superman becomes more powerful than Silver Surfer.

Surfer stopped having any claim to be more relatively powerful than Post Crisis Superman in 1992, let alone feat/space cheese wise.
