Kris’ response makes me wonder something so i’ll ask:
If an alt. reality character’s shown to have the same powerset as their mainstream counterpart (Kris said ‘AoA sinister hardly has any tp feats’ which means AoA Sinister -had- tp), but they dont use them to the same level (while not explicitly failing to do something the mainstream version could do, just not doing much), are we supposed to -take away- from the establshed power level?
Example, if this thread was ‘alt reality Hulk Vs Citizen Steel’, but the Hulk i used, while shown to have super strength, didnt do anything up to mainstream Hulk’s level (say he just lifted a car off someone, threw a few boulders, did a couple of handclaps), would you come in and say
‘alt reality Hulk hardly has any strength feats, so it's an instant loss vs CS’?
or would you debate as if this Hulk had mainstream Hulk level strength?

I would say he has super strength, but not on the level of mainstream Hulk, or on the level needed to beat CS. So the first statement.
I think it's pretty reasonable to put them on an average to low tier of the characters showings unless something changes. Being strong enough to fight with Thor for example would be reasonable I think for a character who does that. Being able to beat Thor or beat the shit out of Thor should be out of the reach.
They lack the "What is that stuff MADE of ?!?" Feats that make a hero stand out.
That's how I see it anyway.

Wow, thats...odd.
But thanks for responding, DS. 👆
Well, my reasoning is this.
It's an alternative reality. What happened in the alt.reality, by definition, is that it's different.
So maybe this new Hulk is unable to process anger in the same manner as our beloved Hulk. Or ramp up as quickly.
Or even, be weak to radiation:
Whereas 616 Hulk is pretty strong against rads.

I just dont see it, i guess (Mob’s response seems more in line w. what i thought we generally did here).
To use another, more beloved on this site character, if an alt. reality Superman was shown to use HV to just melt a door knob, cold breath to freeze a glass of water, and super speed at a max of 200mph in an appearance, but he was used in a thread, would you or anyone here srsly debate him as being -that- much weaker than his mainstream counterpart?
I would.

TBC, this is me just wondering/asking opinions, not ranting.
This is something that really piqued my interest, so thanks.
Generally, I just point out that the alternate character lacks feats. You don't have to think they lose, but you can't argue for them. At most, we could say "assuming X character is close to their mainstream counterpart, then this." The nature of battleboards means we need uniform standards of evidence, so feats and such reign supreme.
I'd say the whole point of using alternate characters is to see these specific characters doing things unique to them. Why go through the headache of using alternate Thor if you just wanted 616 Thor?
(Again, generally speaking. I can imagine situations where we could get creative.)
