Marvel writers and their Soap Opera fetish's.
One of the reasons I could never get into the early X titles. Marvel writers were all about pandering to the lowest common denominators, like shipping (Even if it wasn't called that then), meaningless brawls, power trips, ect.. Basicially it reeked of kids writing about shit kids would care about.
Compare that to, say, Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes. Yeah, they had all that stuff, too, but they weren't so adolescent about it..

Funny enough, as a kid in the 90’s that was first introduced to the X-Men via the cartoon, i shipped Logan and Jean even before I knew what that word meant.
Then I started reading comics, got into the X-Men and realize how great a couple Jean and Scott were.
I can't remember the issue, or even the folks involved, so feel free to call me full of shit. I remember Lois kicking a no-name brick through a wall or something due to training she had. They were in a cave, and Lois was dressed abnormally due being a hostage iirc. Probably early-mid 2000's. Can't remember anything else.
It would indicate a high degree of technique(and also comic logic) from Lois since she's just a human.
I might look for it but eh...laziness. Maybe one of the Superman fans knows.

I will say this in regard to Lois. I hate the character wholeheartedly, but at least she doesn’t **** other guys while still married! The fact that Sue is never called on her infidelities still boogles my mind.
It's one of the kinds of sexism (of which there are several) that has always existed in comics.

Lois is an army brat, and with her father being a General, it’s not farfetched that she knows basic defensive skills. In recent years, Clark even thought her the basics.
Lois has some bit of training, yeah. I dunno if she'd stack up well against Sue, though.

Men don't care.

Funny how the men were the ones writing the more soap opera elements like love triangles in and now the women writing for Marvel can't portray even a single one on one relationship well to save their lives.
