Well, the whole point of the spell is, as soon as he's killed, Ragnarok starts.

I suppose he could still be hurt, without being killed. But has he, in comics? Has anyone even tried?

God of War pretty much interpreted it as no pain receptors, and a Deadpool like healing factor.. Never seen how damage plays out in comics.
