I mean the funny thing is he hasn’t even done that, he had a fancy summit, polished a few nobs, signed a useless bit of paper, then immediately declared victory.
Sadly, until Trump makes an intelligent effort to solve the NK problem he cannot have his brownie points, and #AtLeastHeTried is just another a way of covering up his incompetence.

To "try" one must actually do something that has at least some meaning and measure. eg If he got Kim to sign a formal/legal declaration of nuclear reduction and Kim turned around and broke the deal, sure, Trump would have at least tried then. What he did was just a song and dance with nigh zero substance except giving Kim everything he wanted.
