I did watch the scene and I know he was holding back. Also, at the end Thor knocked Tony down one last time for good measure. Thor was fine, Iron Man was losing. And would have lost. And he was amped by 400% power. Even then he couldn't so much as SCRATCH Thor. Whereas Thor defeated The Destroyer AND Surtur....by himself...much more impressive feats than anything Iron Man has ever done. Nanosuit Iron Man is clearly the best but even then all he could do was get a drop of Blood from Thanos who was allowing the fight to go on anyway.

Thanos got the stone and accomplished his mission. Thor wanted to kill him and stop him. He didn’t. Thanos left after he achieved his mission the same on Titan. He didn’t need to beat Quill despite him rushing in after they lost. Thor has his shot. Thanos won despite Thor’s greatest weapon ever forged.

Tbh I dont think Thanos retreated cause he was afraid of Thor he just simply reached his goal. Just like on Titan he got the stone and he left he could have killed the Avengers but he simply didnt care so he went after his next goal...

More likely it's because he had an axe driven into his chest, and wasn't in the position to continue fighting nearly every hero on Earth.

It was clearly damaged, but had to be still operational somewhat at least, otherwise he wouldn't have used the Space Gem.

It was damaged but as I said earlier he left both scenes after he accomplishes his goals. Thanos was shown to recover and was happy at the end. He truly won. Thor was another hero in a long list who failed to stop him.

The suits power meter was still going up after Jarvis stated 400%. it actually stopped at 475%

I'm not saying he didn't accomplish his goal, he clearly did. But Thor also wounded him, and the gauntlet was damaged.
