How would the Romans react to us?

Imagine that a massive portal appeared connected near-DC today to near-Rome in the time of Trajan. Assume the stability of the portal and pretend that everybody takes it for granted. Then handwave away disease transmission from first contact.

How would Rome (and I guess us) react?

They would think they were in heaven or perhaps hell when they came to our side of the portal.

The Romans would be very disappointed in what has happened today because the online political commentary that now clutters up the internet makes it harder to find the porn.

They thought themselves would stand the test of time so they probably wouldn't be surprised not much has changed
